Hugs for the Teddy Bear

 Joshua found a new friend at the Hallmark store. 

He gave him some nice kisses and hugs. 

"Rivers" at the Fountain

While in Grundy Center, we visited the Soda Fountain at Manly's Drug Store.  

 We all went to get phosphates, or "Rivers" as they call them. 

 I think by the end of our time, Joshua had drank most of Daddy's large...

 ... and most of Grandma's Large.

 And then he even got some of Uncle Nick and Aunt Stacie's.

We traveled to Grundy Center last weekend to see Joe's family.  On the way, we took a break from driving and visited McDonalds!

 No Happy Meal this time...

 ...but they had a pretty cool fish tank!

Sometimes I have to ask myself:  Is it more work to feed him bite by bite, or to clean him up afterward? Well, sometimes I don't even get to ask because he's getting independent and insisting on feeding himself.  Then I just need to re-evaluate what we're going to eat for supper!

Baby Dedication

 Yesterday, April 24, 2011, Joe and I dedicated Joshua to the Lord.  This is not an infant baptism, and has nothing to do with his salvation, but it was a commitment that Joe and I made before the Lord, and our church family to raise Joshua in the Lord, teach him the Bible, and commit to raise him for God's glory and service.

 Robert and Rachel Swensen also dedicated Ariana,

and Paul and Erin Simpson dedicated Jeremiah.  

Joe also gave a wonderful devotional on how the Bible instructs us to raise, teach, and discipline our children.

May these little ones come to trust in the Lord as their savior at a young age, and desire to serve Him with their lives.  Lord, please give us wisdom as parents to teach, train, and be an example for these little ones so that they might see You in our lives.

ABC's

On Sunday, Joshua sang the whole ABC song on his own! Yes, he missed about 5 or 6 of the letters throughout the song, but he did so well!  I tried to get him to do it again for the video, but he was a little camera shy.  But it's a cute video anyway!  One of these days I'll get him singing it.  He can also count to 10 (but skips 5 and 6) and sing Jesus Loves Me, The B-I-B-L-E, Deep and Wide, and a few others.  It's so fun to hear him sing!

As of Saturday night, Joshua has been sleeping in his big boy bed.  He did so well with the transition, we were surprised! 

 He still looks so little, but he's getting so big. 

 

Last night after Josh went to bed, Joe and I went down stairs to watch a movie.  All of a sudden, we heard a THUD!  We hurried upstairs because we figured Josh had fallen out of bed, but we didn't hear him crying.  We were a little worried so we turn the hallway light and opened his door and sure enough there he was lying on the floor...fast alseep.  He was so tired that falling out of bed didn't even wake him.  It was pretty funny that he could sleep through such a thing. But at least we had a pillow there to somewhat cushion his fall.

Poor Baby

Poor Joshua hasn't been feeling well lately.  I'm pretty sure it's just his teeth, but it's still no fun for either of us!

Well, I needed to get supper made, and he needed to just sit and relax, so I broke out the old baby swing.  

 Of course, he was too heavy for it to actually swing him, but I'd give him a push here and there, and he was able to relax a little. 

I remember when he was so tiny in that swing.  My little baby. 

Joshua's First Happy Meal

Joshua got his first Happy Meal while we were traveling this week. 

It's hard not to want to spoil your kid.  But don't worry, we don't do it too much!

 Besides, every kids needs to experience a Happy Meal, right?

 He got a Ronald McDonald airplane toy.  He sure enjoyed rolling it over the table.

 He barely ate any of his meal (probably because he wasn't feeling well), but he sure enjoyed it.

 He liked to take the hamburger apart and eat it piece by piece.

And what kid doesn't enjoy dipping?

He's never been a huge fan of French Fries, so the apples were perfect!

Horses

 Oh the way home from the park on Saturday, we drove by a farm with a lot of horses. 

 So we stopped so Josh could see the horses. 

 The owner was so kind to show us around and introduce us to all the horses. 

 Josh loved petting them!

More Fun at the Park

 These pictures are from the playground at Prairie Rose park.  We couldn't help but just spend all day outside on Saturday. 

 Joshua had fun throwing his ball down the slide, and throwing the sand too!

Big Boy

We went to the playground at our church Saturday.  Joshua loved going down the slide.  This is a video of him walking from the bottom of the slide, all the way around the playground and climbing back up to the top.  I had to stop the movie when he gets to the top or he probably would have gone down on his own!
